The AMFA-Alaska Negotiating Committee (the “Committee”) is providing this update to the Membership at Alaska Airlines. This is the only official authorized source of negotiating communications by the Committee.
Today is the amendable date of the agreement, and AMFA Legal and Alaska Labor Relations are continuing to convert the Agreement in Principle (AIP) into a full Tentative Agreement (TA). This has been a major undertaking, and we apologize for it taking so long, but we do not want to miss anything. Yesterday, we sent the Company a version of the TA incorporating all AMFA-proposed and Company-proposed changes. We now await their response.
Most issues identified through this conversion process are formatting and grammar, but there are a handful of issues that have a material impact on the final TA including, but not limited to, the effective date of the wages if the TA is ratified and the future effective dates of wage increases. We are working expeditiously to resolve the open issues this week so we can send out the full TA for your review.
With the understanding that work continues behind the scenes to finalize the TA, the Committee will soon be putting out a TA highlight sheet. This TA highlight sheet is not the complete text of TA and represents our position on the effective date of wages; however, these dates are not yet finalized with the Company. The full TA will encompass every change, both substantive and clean-up.
The Committee will be wrapping up the roadshow next week with meetings in Los Angeles, Orange County, and a Zoom meeting for stations that were not visited.
Members have asked when the vote will start. In compliance with the bylaws of one of our locals, the voting will not begin until the membership has fourteen (14) days to review the final TA document. In the meantime, if you have not yet registered with the AMFA National website, please do so to ensure we have your current personal email address on file.
We understand this is an incredible moment that can become stressful at times. Please be patient, you will have your voice heard by your vote.
